FC Barcelona’s latest documentary, ‘A New Era’, brings to the forefront some of Barcelona’s most celebrated behind-the-scenes moments of the 2022-23 campaign.
The final episode of the documentary dives deep into the moment when the team’s season arguably peaked – winning the league with a sizeable gap over Real Madrid.
Towards the end of the episode, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is seen visibly ecstatic by the accomplishments of his team and goes on to call the ongoing timeline Xavi’s era.
“We are entering a new era now, Xavi’s era,” Laporta says, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo.
He then reminds the manager of the sporting and economic hurdles they had to get past to reach the pinnacle of Spanish football once more.
“It has been a historic league. Where did we come from, Xavi, where did we come from!” he says, unable to believe what his men had just achieved.
As the feelings sank in, the club president elaborated on what he expected from the Blaugranas in the coming years, saying,
“We are aware that it was a season in which the priority objective was the League, but now what we have to set as a priority objective is the League and some other important title.”
Finally, Laporta unravels what he meant by calling the current team a part of ‘Xavi’s era’ and the glorious days that lay ahead of them.
“A new era has begun and we are privileged to be able to live it because I am convinced that it will be a new splendid era and one of the best in the history of Barça,” he concluded.
Barcelona have got off to a great start to the 2023-24 campaign in La Liga with three wins in four games and trail the leaders Real Madrid by just two points.
All eyes, however, will be on the UEFA Champions League for the ongoing campaign.
