Liverpool have enjoyed huge success under Jurgen Klopp since the German took the helm at Anfield in 2015. Klopp has turned his squad into world-beaters and has guided the Merseyside giants to Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup success. But along the way, plenty of players have headed through the Anfield exit – and Express Sport takes a look at four Klopp heroes who must regret leaving the club.
Sadio Mane was formidable during his time in England and bagged 120 goals and 48 assists in 269 games for the Reds. The Senegal forward played almost every minute of Liverpool’s Champions League-winning campaign in the 2018/19 season and bagged 18 Premier League goals the following term as Klopp’s team cruised to the title. But he quit Anfield last summer in favour of a move to Bayern Munich.
Mane struggled in Germany, despite being handed a key role at the beginning of the season. And by the time the Champions League knockout stages arrived, he had fallen out of favour following a lengthy injury. The 31-year-old was ultimately sold to Saudi Arabia club Al-Nassr just one season after signing for Bayern and is now plying his trade alongside former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Gini Wijnaldum was one of the best midfielders in the Premier League after spending five years on Merseyside but severed ties with Liverpool in 2021 after running down his contract.

But his time at the Parc des Princes didn’t go to plan and he was named as Ligue 1’s Flop Signing of the Year after his first campaign in Paris.
The 32-year-old stuck around for a second season at PSG but left the club this summer to join Saudi side Al-Ettifaq, where he reunites with Jordan Henderson and plays under Steven Gerrard.
Divock Origi was another Liverpool Champions League and Premier League winner. Despite never becoming a regular under Klopp, the 28-year-old has gone down in folklore after bagging a brace against Barcelona in the second leg of the 2018/19 Champions League semi-final as the Reds overcame a first-leg deficit to book their place in the final.
And he also notched in the showpiece event as Liverpool defeated Tottenham 2-0. After eight years at Anfield, Origi left to join AC Milan last summer. But he scored just two goals in 36 games for the Italian side and returned to the Premier League last month to join Nottingham Forest on loan.

Premier League predicted final table with Chelsea 12th as Man Utd go backwards [PREDICTION] Philippe Coutinho was the first superstar to leave Liverpool under Klopp as the playmaker opted to swap Anfield for Barcelona in 2018. The 31-year-old netted the Reds a whopping £142million but flattered to deceive at the Nou Camp before being loaned out to Bayern Munich.
The Brazil international linked up with former team-mate Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa on loan at the start of 2022, before making the move permanent last summer. But after underwhelming back in the Premier League, he was last week loaned to Qatari side Al-Duhail SC for the current season.
