Sean Dyche is “the right man” to guide Everton through their Premier League relegation battle this season, despite the poor start, according to journalist Lewis Steele.
The Toffees have started the season with poor results, only picking up a single point in their opening four matches of the season and currently sit 18th in the Premier League table, only above newly promoted Luton Town and Burnley, who have only played three matches.
But despite the table making for grim reading, the Daily Mail journalist believes Dyche is the right man for the job at Goodison Park and that the Toffees are unfortunate to not have more points on the board at this stage of the season.
Responding to a question over Dyche’s future in the newspaper’s Premier League Q&A on Wednesday (6 September), he said: “I think it would be very premature for Everton to give up on Sean Dyche. Yes, it’s not great under him but I think they will be safe and results will see an uptick in form.
“He has been dealt a poor hand in terms of coming into a club very limited in what they can do financially. But I would 100 per cent say Dyche is the right man… for now at least.”

It is not often a team have as poor a start to the season as Dyche’s Everton without pressure mounting on the manager, but it feels as though the former Burnley boss is doing as well as he possibly can with the limited tools at his disposal.
The Toffees weren’t able to splash the cash in the transfer market, their only big move being the signing of Beto, otherwise being left with loan deals and risky pursuits of young players in the hope that they will help them beat the drop.
Although the results haven’t been there in the early matches this season, the Toffees would have been good value for at least six points, with their only truly disastrous performance coming in the 4-0 defeat to Aston Villa. In the defeats to Fulham and Wolves, the games could’ve have truly gone either way.
What is worrying is the fact the games where Dyche’s side have dropped points are the ones against sides they may well be competing with to avoid the drop and losing these “six-pointers” can make staying up an uphill task.
Dyche has been in relegation fights before, with both Burnley and the Toffees and knows what it takes to stay in the Premier League. With the limited resources at his disposal at Goodison Park, it’s hard to see anyone else doing a better job than the current occupant of the manager’s seat.
