Chris Sutton has argued that referees feel the weight of the crowd at big clubs after insisting Marcus Rashford dived to win a penalty for Manchester United in their 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest.
Sutton debated whether referees are biased in favour of big clubs with Mail Sport football editor Ian Ladyman on the brand new podcast ‘It’s All Kicking Off’.
Co-host and Premier League winner Chris Sutton said Rashford had dived to win a penalty after a challenge from Forest midfielder Danilo.
Bayern Munich are reportedly considering a loan move for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.
According to BILD, Bayern have identified McTominay as their first choice option as they look to bring in a new holding midfielder before the transfer window closes.
McTominay is no longer guaranteed a regular place in the starting lineup at United, as demonstrated by the fact that he has made two short substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.
Ian Maatsen’s decision over a new contract could have a bearing on Marc Cucurella‘s departure from Stamford Bridge.
Cucurella is available for loan and Manchester United made enquiries on Saturday but Chelsea may not be so sure if Holland U21 international left-back Maatsen doesn’t commit to a new deal.
The 21-year-old has been offered a lengthy deal but is unsure over the terms and the validity of signing it.
Manchester United will not entertain a loan for Harry Maguire.
The England defender is open to leaving for more first team football before the deadline and there is expected to be renewed interest in the next few days from West Ham while Everton and Newcastle could come into the picture depending on injuries.
However, United’s stance remains that they will only consider a sale. West Ham failed to agree on a £30m deal with United earlier this month and the Old Trafford side still need to raise funds through sales if they are to buy and strengthen their own squad.
Manchester United are set to complete the £4.3million signing of Turkey international goalkeeper Altay Bayindir as cover for Andre Onana.
This comes as Dean Henderson is joining Crystal Palace for £15m with a further £5m in add-ons. United will also hold a sell- on clause.
On Thursday Bayindir was an unused substitute as Fenerbahce beat Twente 5-1 in the Europa Conference League.
The Carabao Cup is already well underway, with the third round draw set to take place this week.
Chelsea and Tottenham are set to be involved in the second round, which gets underway on Tuesday evening.
The third round sees all the top teams in the Premier League enter the competition, including Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.
Manchester United have enquired about Brentford’s Rico Henry as they look to bring in a new left back ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
United are scouring the market after Luke Shaw suffered a muscle injury which is expected to keep him out for a number of months.
Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon and Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso, are all under consideration to fill the void in Erik Ten Hag’s squad.
Manchester United have reportedly offered Real Madrid the chance to sign Anthony Martial on loan.
According to Fichajes, the deal would include an option for Real to sign Martial permanently for £12.8million (€15million).
Following Karim Benzema’s departure to Al-Ittihad, Real don’t have many natural strikers other than Joselu, with Vinicius Junior often partnering Rodrygo up front.
West Ham have re-opened talks with Manchester United over a move for Harry Maguire, according to reports.
The England defender was one of the top priorities for David Moyes’ side this summer but have been unable to secure his signature.
They had agreed a £30million fee with Man United over the move, but grew tired of waiting for Maguire to decide on his future.
Manchester United are reportedly discussing a potential swap loan deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.
That arrangement, according to BILD journalist Christian Falk, could see Red Devils academy graduate Scott McTominay move in the opposite direction.
The 26-year-old has struggled to break into Erik ten Hag‘s starting line up recently, being named in his first eleven ten times in 24 Premier League appearances for the club during the 2022-23 campaign.
Good morning and welcome to Mail Sport’s Manchester United live blog. We’ll bring you all the latest updates from Old Trafford, with the closure of the transfer window rapidly approaching.
The only way a Maguire deal could benefit West Ham…
