United have made four signings so far this summer, spending almost £180million in the process. A fifth arrival is almost certain, as a new goalkeeper will come in once Dean Henderson’s move to Crystal Palace is complete.
Ten Hag knows he will likely have to sell before he can make any more permanent signings. He could therefore look to sign players on loan, with a left-back high on his agenda following the injury to Luke Shaw.
Donny van de Beek and Eric Bailly are among those who could leave, while reports over Harry Maguire‘s future have surfaced again. But clubs are in a race against time to complete deals, with the window shutting at 11pm on Friday.

Scott McTominay has been identified as Bayern Munich’s top transfer target in holding midfield, according to reports.
BILD claim that the Bavarian giants are working on a deal with Man Utd and his agents to bring the Scotsman to the Allianz Arena.
There have also been reports suggesting that Ryan Gravenberch could be included in a shock swap deal.

Former Manchester United midfielder Fred appears to have confirmed that Fenerbache shot-stopper Altay Bayindir is on his way to Old Trafford.
Bayindir is understood to be in Manchester following a medical as he finalises a deal costing the Red Devils around £4.3million.
And Fred seems to have verified these reports. “I wished Altay good luck when he left. He is going to join a great team,” he said during a recent press conference.
“Altay will be very happy at Manchester United.”
Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a shock move for Tottenham star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the final week of the transfer window, it has been claimed. Erik ten Hag is desperate to sign another midfielder before Friday’s deadline.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Hojbjerg could join United, though, if the Old Trafford outfit seriously pursue a deal this week. Ten Hag is keen to sign another midfielder after having the weaknesses in that area of the pitch exposed already this season.
But Fabrizio Romano claims that the Qatari bidder currently has no intention on commenting on anything regarding the sale.
Manchester United are not willing to allow Harry Maguire to leave on loan this summer. The Red Devils are only prepared to entertain a permanent switch with interest expected to intensify from several Premier League clubs including West Ham, Everton and Newcastle.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Maguire is open to leaving the club in pursuit of more regular playing time.
The Hammers have recently re-opened talks with Maguire but any move to the London Stadium still depends on him being paid a bonus to leave by United with his prospective suitors unable to match his current wages at Old Trafford, per the Sun.
Manchester United expect Harry Maguire to stay beyond Friday’s deadline.
West Ham have again been linked with a late move for the England defender.
However, Sky Sports says the issue surrounding a possible pay-off still remains.
Therefore it is increasingly likely that Maguire won’t be going anywhere.
Manchester United are reportedly ‘very close’ to signing Marc Cucurella.
Spanish outlet Marca claims the Chelsea star is set to move to Old Trafford on loan.
Cucurella has fallen out of favour under Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard is said to welcome the chance of moving to United.
Spanish outlet Sport claims Manchester United have made an official offer to sign Marcos Alonso.
Alonso was initially keen to stay at Barcelona beyond Friday’s deadline.
However, United have now turned their interest into a loan bid in an attempt to strike a loan deal.
Atletico Madrid are also credited with interest in the former Chelsea star.
Speaking on his podcast, the pundit said: “There’s no doubt they want another player or two.
“A left-back and central midfield player and I think they need that or else they’re going to get put under real pressure, particularly when all the other competitions kick in.
“I think there is another one or two players needed just to beef up the squad because of injuries and he does want another midfield player to sit in there alongside Casemiro.”
Manchester United are reportedly interested in Brentford star Rico Henry.
The Mail claims the left-back is now under consideration as Erik ten Hag seeks cover for the injured Luke Shaw.
United have made initial checks into whether Henry would be available.
It is claimed Brentford would be more open to selling the 26-year-old at the end of the season.
Manchester United are now unlikely to sign Sofyan Amrabat, reports claim.
The Morroco star has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for several weeks.
However, the Manchester Evening News says interest has been overstated by Italian media.
It is claimed that if Amrabat leaves Fiorentina, United are not likely to be the destination.
Mundo Deportivo says Barca’s financial situation could mean a six-month loan will help the La Liga club.
Barca would get Alonso’s salary off their books for half a season and ease Financial Fair Play concerns.
The former Chelsea star is one of the left-backs United have been linked with.
Manchester United are close to making their next signing.
Altay Bayindir is set to arrive in a deal worth around £4.3m, the Manchester Evening News reports.
With Dean Henderson set to leave, Erik ten Hag needed to sign a back-up goalkeeper to Andre Onana.
And he has decided upon Bayindir, who has already undergone his medical.
Chelsea are open to letting Marc Cucurella join Manchester United on loan.
Fabrizio Romano says the Blues would be willing to facilitate a move to their rivals.
However, the deal must be on Chelsea’s terms regarding a loan fee and wages.
Cucurella is one of three left-back options United are looking at.
Bayern are keen on Scott McTominay, while United are interested in Ryan Gravenberch.
Sport Bild claims that loan moves for both players have been discussed.
McTominay and Gravenberch are yet to start for their respective clubs this season.
Dean Henderson is on the brink of a move to Crystal Palace.
The Mail says the goalkeeper will join the Eagles on an initial £15m deal, with a further £5m in add-ons.
United will have a sell-on clause for Henderson included in the deal.
It was reported that Henderson underwent a medical on Sunday and a deal now looks to be imminent.
