Having learnt their opponents for the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League this past Thursday when the draw was held, FC Barcelona now know the fixture schedule for the first round of the esteemed tournament.
The champions of La Liga have not fared well in the Champions League in the last two seasons, getting eliminated at the group stage itself and Xavi will be intent on addressing that and bettering his own record in the competition.
As has been known already, Barcelona were drawn in Group H of the Champions League along with three other champion teams from their respective leagues in the form of FC Porto (Portugal), Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine), and Royal Antwerp (Belgium).
As per the schedule released by UEFA, Barcelona will kick off their Champions League campaign on the 19th of September at their new temporary home, Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic against Royal Antwerp.
The schedule will then take the Blaugrana to Portugal as they take on FC Porto on October 4 at Estadio do Dragao before returning to home comforts for the clash against Shakhtar Donetsk on October 25.
The reverse fixture against Shakhtar will be played at a neutral venue in Germany due to the situation in Ukraine, with the game taking place on November 7.
Barça will play their final home game of the group stages against Porto on November 28 before pulling the curtains down on the first round of the Champions League with a trip to the Bosuilstadion to face Royal Antwerp on December 13.
Compared to the groups that the Blaugrana were faced in the last couple of seasons, they seem to have it much more straightforward this time out.
And, it goes without saying that there will be no excuses for Xavi & co. failing to make it past the group stage for the third year in a row.
