Kelly Clarkson just got a taste of her own medicine on
The Voice, and she had a dramatic way of dealing with Niall Horan‘s surprise move.
Throughout the season 23 blind auditions, the American Idol winner and the former One Direction band member developed quite the rapport toward each other. But their budding friendship took a slight hit when it came to hopeful Kala Banham. The aspiring artist took the stage to sing a moving version of Joni Mitchell’s "Both Sides Now," leaving both coaches stunned by her impressive vocal range. But in a shocking choice by Niall, he blocked Kelly and made her scream in her chair as he turned around to convince her to join his team.
When it came time for Kelly to deliver her feedback, she had choice words for both Kala and Niall. "This is so sad," she lamented. "We would’ve been beautiful together! I’m gonna steal you, mark my words. You will be wearing this jacket at some point in the competition, I promise you!"
But The Kelly Clarkson Show host didn’t stop there. As soon as Niall started talking, she took her prized Team Kelly jacket and marched over to his red chair to hit him with it. Niall quickly reciprocated by blocking her (pun intended) and yelledto the crowd, "Where’s my lawyer?"
Given how Kelly often partakes in this type of behavior with Blake Shelton, The Voice fans immediately responded to the duo’s interaction on social media. Unsurprisingly, viewers loved it.
"Petition to make Kelly and Niall permanent on The Voice!! PLEASE!! I [love] them!! 😹❤️💕," one person wrote on YouTube. "Niall is so funny ! He can match Kelly and Blake’s energy within his first season," a different user chimed in. "I need Kelly running and hitting [Niall] with her jacket as a gif now! Lmao she had me dying 😂," another added.
Well, Niall’s efforts worked, because Kala chose him as her mentor. But as Kelly said, we’ll need to keep our eyes peeled for when the inevitable steal takes place. And if the "Heaven" singer knows anything, he should be well prepared.
